The Hamdan International Photography Award (HIPA) is back with its seventh edition. The competition, based out of Dubai, has garnered over a quarter of a million photographs, over the past six editions. The main theme for this season is The Moment. HIPA has also introduced a new Time-lapse category, with the intention to introduce an exciting phase in the contest, hoping to target a new segment of the creative community. There’s a grand total of USD 423,000 prize money, which will be split amongst the winners across the four categories —The Moment, Portfolio, General, Timelapse(video). On speaking with Ali Bin Thalith, the General Secretary of HIPA, BP also discovered that while HIPA receives maximum participation from India, the country also has the highest level of disqualifications because of non-adherence to the rules of the contest. This included images that stood high chances of winning. Hence, the terms and conditions should be read carefully before participating. The last date of submission is 31st October 2017.
